“The Pen Is Mightier,” an initiative of America250 Utah, is sponsored by the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation in conjunction with the Utah Arts & Museums Travelling Exhibition Program. The exhibition tours all 29 Utah counties through December 2026. [Schedule here.] America250 Utah is directed by the America250 Utah Commission, with support from Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox, Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, and the Utah State Legislature.

Married to Ulysses S. Grant, she was the first lady from 1869 to 1877. Julia loved her role as first lady, famously stating, "My life in the White House was like a bright and beautiful dream, and we were immeasurably happy." We will be closed again this Tuesday, but we are still open for all scheduled events. Last Tuesday, we had Real World Ready and Crafting Change; these events are always so much fun! We love having the community hold events at the museum! These events were held in our gallery space, while we worked on the other side of the museum on exhibit planning and installation. It is no secret where “A Life of Adventure: The Legacy of A.K. and Ellen Reynolds” is moving. Any guess what is taking its place against the purple wall? We are closed today, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day Josie Bassett Morris was born on this day in 1874. Josie was one of the most colorful characters in the Basin. She was a cattle rustler, occasionally poached deer, and brewed bootleg whiskey. She lived alone in her cabin for 50 years without plumbing or electricity. Stop in today to learn more about this incredible woman!
