Volunteer Opportunities

Community Collaborator

We are looking for someone who would enjoy helping our staff with community events. These events may include book signings, speakers/presentations, art show open houses, crafting, and more! Your duties may include collaborating with staff to plan events, setting up events, helping clean up after events take place, and more. If you want to be more involved in the community and events taking place locally this is the place for you!

Children’s Educator

We are looking for someone with a passion for teaching children who would like to help our staff with children’s programs and events. This can include helping teach, plan, and prepare lessons and activities along with helping to conduct school tours for grade-school-aged children. If you are a bubbly and energetic person who loves helping kids learn and having fun while doing it this is the place for you!

Museum Caretaker

We are looking for someone who loves to clean and wants to help take care of our building. This can include vacuuming, dusting, glass cleaning, and more. There are some very fragile items you will be working around that are very valuable to the community and preserving our history. If you know your way around a vacuum and love to see the before and after of a good dust this is the place for you!

History Buff

We are looking for someone who has knowledge of the history of Uintah County and would like to share their knowledge with guests from all over the world. During the summer months, you would provide guests with the option of having a guided tour. The tour would include sharing information about the exhibits themselves along with fun facts, local history, and other information that may not already be mentioned in the exhibits. When we don’t have as much traffic in the winter months you also have the opportunity to partner with staff to create educational content for our social media platforms. If learning about local history is your jam and you want a place to share that love we are the place for you!

Artifact Specialist

We are looking for someone who loves to read, research, and share a great story. This will include researching and documenting what you have learned, along with collaborating with our staff to share the research for exhibits and social media posts. You have the opportunity to engage with people and sprinkle a little bit of history into the lives of Uinta Basin residents and visitors. If you love to learn and write this is the place for you!

Not Sure Where to Start?

If all of these sound like a blast to you, each time you come in, we can switch it up! Feel free to mark down more than one option on your application. This is just a little insight into what you may be able to do here at the Museum of Uintah County.

We often have other tasks not listed for special events and other tasking. We’ve had volunteer help with all sorts of things, from the Gun & Knife Show to moving pianos!
